Scripture | Hebrews 13:5b
For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Several years ago, we had a car accident which totaled our car. After contacting the police, our second call was to our car insurance company. They were concerned and assured us “we are here for you and will walk through this with you—is there anything you need, were you injured, etc.” I must say, they did exactly that; they were helpful the whole way through the process of obtaining a rental car and getting a settlement on our car. That’s why we pay our premiums, so our insurance company will be with us during an unfortunate time of loss.
The unfortunate thing about “physical” insurance is that it does not cover you in times of fear, personal problems, disappointments, rejection, or any other challenges that life may bring. It is during those times, we must look to God, the author and finisher of our faith. But sometimes during trouble or turmoil, we become so overwhelmed with the problem, so involved with the negative things happening around us that we don’t feel as if, or we forget God is with us. The enemy brings to us a feeling of abandonment and convinces us that we are alone, and at times, we participate in those wrong emotions.
Just as we review our car insurance policy to determine our coverage during a time of loss, we need to pull out our heavenly insurance policy (the Holy Bible) when we are challenged by life and feel alone, and remember to check out God’s reassurance to us of His presence. He reminds us in Hebrews 13:5, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” In Isaiah 41:10, He tells us not to fear, for “I am with thee.” In Psalm 91:15, He reminds us that when we call upon Him, He will answer us and be with us in trouble. In Psalm 23:4, God promises to protect and comfort us.
God loves us and does not abandon us when times are hard. Rest in His love, in His care and protection, and abide in His safety. While the problem may still be present, His presence helps us to stand and weather any storm that comes our way! Just think, you did not have to pay a premium for that protection—the price was paid on Calvary!!!
Father, no matter what comes in my life today, thank You for being with me. I have no reason to fear, for You are my God; You will help me, strengthen me and uphold me with the right hand of Your righteousness. Thank You for Your presence in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
