The Great “I Am”

Scripture | Exodus 3:14

“God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.”

When God called Moses to lead the children of Israel, the main question Moses had was this, “Who shall I say sent me?” God’s response was simple, “Tell them I AM sent me.” In my infancy as a Christian, many times I pondered over this response that God gave Moses. Initially, it made no sense to me but praise be to God, after many years of being in relationship with God, it makes all the sense in the world to me now. It was God’s way of saying that the One who is “All in All” was the sender.

When God called Moses to lead Israel, it was a task that brought fear to his heart. He needed confidence to go forth. God gave him an answer that caused him to focus on the authority and power of God.

Just as God called Moses, He also calls us to tasks which we feel inadequate to handle. By ourselves, we are inadequate but we are never alone because God is always with us when we operate by His power. He is everything we need.

In our calling to life experiences and times of need, God is our confidence booster as He speaks to us:

When you need peace, I AM Jehovah Shalom, your peace and comfort!

When you need healing, I AM Jehovah Rapha, your healer!

When you need provision, I AM Jehovah Jireh, your provider!

When you need direction, I AM Jehovah Raah, your shepherd!

I AM El Shaddai, the All Sufficient God who is more than enough!

We can go through life with confidence knowing that “I AM” sent us and He is all we need to accomplish whatever He has called us to do.

Lord, thank You for being The Great “I AM” and everything I need. Knowing that You are always with me, gives me confidence and courage to go through whatever You call me to in life.
