New Life Community Alliance
For the last two decades, New Life Community Alliance (NLCA), originally New Life Community Ministries, has cared for the basic needs of more than 40,000 residents in South DeKalb and nearby communities by providing food, clothing, shelter, and supportive stabilizing services. Originally established in 2002 by New Life Church as the church’s outreach arm, the organization has built deep trust with our neighbors through supportive community programs, growing to become the largest social service provider in South DeKalb today. In response to this growth, NLCA’s Board of Directors – including our visionary founder, Pastor Marlin D. Harris – saw the clear need for a strategic expansion of New Life’s work: to extend beyond addressing individuals’ urgent needs to creating lasting, systemic changes that break the cycle of poverty in South DeKalb. New Life Community Alliance is governed by a Board of Directors and receives advice and input on programs and operations from a volunteer Advisory Council made up of business and community leaders.
With that clarity of purpose, New Life Community Alliance is pleased to relaunch to the broader community with an expanded mission, experienced leadership, and an extensive scope of work based on four pillars: affordable housing, workforce development, education, and health and wellness. We will continue our dignity/supportive services, while growing our continuum of care to help our neighbors achieve economic equity and stability.
